****PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT****

 

Dear Community Members:

 

 

Once again the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is pleased to announce its annual National High Essay Contest for 2019.  This contest is conducted on an annual basis in conjunction with our National Achievement Week Observance.

 

Iota Iota Iota (Tri Iota) Chapter will select a winner ONLY from a Utah pool of applications received by the given deadline date. The winner will have his/her essay forwarded to the 12th District committee to compete in our Regional contest. A winning 12th District essay will then be forwarded to compete at the National contest.

 

Tri Iota Chapter requests that each student submitting an essay ensure that it is postmarked by email no later than midnight, October 18, 2019 and emailed to the following address: SaltLakeCityQues@gmail.com

National High School Essay Contest

As a phase of the Annual National Achievement Week Observance

November 10 - 17, 2019

 

National Awards: Four College Scholarships

1st Scholarship, $5000; 2nd Scholarship, $3,000; 3rd Scholarship, $2,000; 4th Scholarship, $1,000.00

*Local Awards: Three College Book Scholarships

1st Place Scholarship: $750 | 2nd Place Scholarship: $500 | 3rd Place Scholarship: $300

 

Eligibility: The Contest is Open to all College-bound, Utah High School Seniors.

Contest Closes October 18, 2019 - entry must be emailed no later than midnight 10/18/2019 and emailed to: SaltLakeCityQues@gmail.com
 

 

Local Recognition: Successful applicants will be recognized at our Achievement Awards Program on November 16, 2019

RULES:  The essay must be entitled:

 

“The U.S. Census projects that the United States will become a majority-minority country by the year 2045.  How can we combat, prevent, and/or reduce prejudice, discrimination, and violence in a new, more diverse America?”

 

 

The essay must be original, neither previously published nor secured by copyright.

The essay must be between 700 and 750 words in length.

One typewritten 12 pt. Times New Roman font, double-spaced copy must be submitted.

Two high quality color pictures of the student submitting the manuscript must be sent for various fraternity publications. Please print the complete application from the above link for all rules that apply and further details about the contest.
